At what age can I get my permit?
You must be age 15 to be able to take the written test from the DMV.
When can I drive?
Once you pass the TLSAE (Traffic Laws and Substance Abuse Education) class and written test from the DMV, and are issued your permit you may drive with anyone 21 years and older, who occupies the front seat, with a valid driver's license during daylight hours for the first 3 months. After the first 3 months, until 10 p.m.
How much should I practice?
If you are under 18, you must have 50 hours of documented drive time with 10 hours of that being night drives.
I lost my permit. Can I still drive?
No. You must have your valid permit on you while you are driving. You will need to get a duplicate permit from the DMV.
What do I need for the Road Test?
If under 18, you must hold your permit for a year before taking your road test. Please see www.gathergoget.com for the documentation you will need to provide the DMV when you are getting your license. Your car must have a current insurance card and pass the check test.
